A high potency retinoid treatment that smooths lines & wrinkles, fast and without irritation.

Promote clear skin
Improve texture & hyperpigmentation
First of its kind dual-retinoid treatment clinically proven to improve visible signs of ageing for smooth texture and clear, glowing skin
Retinaldehyde is a direct precursor to skin-active retinoic acid, so it needs one fewer conversion step in skin compared to retinol. It is also encapsulated in calcium phosphate to minimise irritation, while Oleyl Adapalenate is an oil-soluble retinoid that binds directly to skin’s retinoic acid receptors (no conversion needed) to clarify blemish-prone skin with minimised irritation. Pomegranate peel, a potent source of antioxidants, helps promote healthy collagen production and soothe triggers of damage to support clear skin. A bio-fermented blend of a soothing yeast & mushroom extract improves skin’s ability to tolerate retinoids.

How to use a serum
Start with 3x a week & gradually increase frequency to every night as tolerated. Apply 1-2 pumps over the face & neck, avoiding contact with eyes. Blend thoroughly. For daytime, follow with SPF 30 or higher. Precautions: For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. If contact occurs, rinse your eyes thoroughly with water. If you experience irritation, reduce frequency or discontinue use. Keep out of reach of children. When combined with AHA or BHA exfoliants, monitor carefully to see how your skin responds. Contains Vitamin A.
The ideal client for this treatment is someone who is seeing advanced signs of ageing and sun damage like fine lines, wrinkles, loss of firmness and colour changes. Enlarged or clogged pores, rough or bumpy texture and/or post-breakout marks might be a concern as well. This treatment is even suitable for those with acne-prone skin.
The main differences between our retinoid formulas are their texture, key ingredients and targeted concerns. The CLINICAL Pro Retinaldehyde Dual-Retinoid Treatment is a fast-absorbing light lotion that combines retinaldehyde (also known as retinal) and oleyl adapalenate (known as Adapinoid®) to address multiple signs of ageing as well as rough, bumpy texture and blemish/pore-related concerns. It is considered a professional strength yet gentle option for those seeking advanced results without needing a prescription. If you have had increased sensitisation from using the CLINICAL 1% Retinol Treatment in the past, you may want to consider trying the CLINICAL Pro Retinaldehyde Dual-Retinoid Treatment to see how your skin responds to this formula.
Vitamin A in its purest form is bright yellow, so the shade you see represents the potent amount of retinaldehyde in the formula. Upon application, you may notice a slight yellow hue on the skin but this is temporary. The colour dissipates quickly once absorbed and will not stain your skin.
For those with concerns like fine lines, wrinkles, rough texture, blemishes and pore congestion, the CLINICAL Pro Retinaldehyde Dual-Retinoid Treatment is an effective choice, although it may not be the best option for retinoid beginners. Given its potency, start with applying once or twice a week and gradually increase frequency to avoid irritation. Consider a patch test beforehand to gauge your skin sensitivity.
Yes, this formula may be suitable for sensitive skin or rosacea-prone skin. The Adapinoid® in the formula is non-irritating and on its own can help to visibly reduce redness. In addition, we’ve added soothing ingredients like pomegranate peel extract, jojoba seed oil and mushroom extract to help minimise discomfort and/or irritation. Always remember to begin slowly, limiting initial use to once or twice a week, then gradually increasing frequency. Patch test for very sensitive skin. Be cautious of overuse which can lead to dryness, sensitivity and breakouts. You can also opt for lower concentrations and consistent moisturising to mitigate these effects.
Our formula contains retinaldehyde, the closest ingredient to prescription-strength retinoic acid that is obtainable without a prescription and that can be a less irritating alternative. Unlike most prescription retinoids, our treatment includes carefully selected supporting ingredients such as pomegranate peel extract, jojoba seed oil and mushroom extract that help soothe, moisturise and gently target multiple signs of ageing whilst also helping to reduce signs of breakouts.
Even though the systemic absorption of topically applied over-the-counter retinoids is low, we recommend that you avoid prescription retinoids (Renova™, Retin-A™, Differin™, Tazorac™ and generic tretinoin) and over-the-counter products with retinol and its derivatives (retinyl retinoate, retinaldehyde, retinyl linoleate, retinyl propionate or hydroxypinacolone retinoate) due to their relation to prescription retinoids. Consider switching to an anti-ageing product that does not contain retinol or its derivatives. For additional ingredient questions during pregnancy, be sure to consult with your doctor and follow their recommendations and read our Expert Advice Article to learn more about skincare products that are safe to use during pregnancy.
You can use this treatment daily after using a CLEAR BHA exfoliant. At night, you can apply the CLEAR Oil-Free Moisturizer as the last step in your routine and during the day, finish with CLEAR SPF 30. Note: it's safe to use retinoids with other skincare ingredients like AHA, BHA, vitamin C and niacinamide, but consult your GP if you're using prescription retinoids.
Since retinoids are a potent class of skincare ingredients, there are certain circumstances where you should avoid using these ingredients in your routine. For example: 1) If you are pregnant or breastfeeding and your doctor recommends against using these ingredients. 2) If you have certain medical skin conditions and your doctor recommends against using these ingredients. 3) If your skin has become sunburned and/or if you have any open wounds or cuts. 4) Prior to cosmetic corrective procedures involving lights or lasers, as well as for a certain period prior to and after high-strength acid peels (consult your practitioner).
Yes, you can layer this retinoid with your favourite eye cream. Apply it around the orbital bone and avoid the eyelid. Be careful not to apply too close to the lash line. You can also use it to treat mouthlines but avoid direct contact with the lips. Those with retinoid sensitivity should adjust usage.
